Unframed works typically ship within 1–2 business days in archival-safe packaging. Framed works are hand-assembled to order and require up to two weeks before dispatch. Tracking is provided once the order has been released for shipment.
Returns and cancellations are accepted within 24 hours of purchase. If your work arrives damaged, contact us and we will repair, replace where possible, or resolve the issue at no cost.
Poolside Gossip
Photographed at Richard Neutra's Kaufmann Desert House in Palm Springs in 1970, Poolside Gossip is the image most closely associated with the Slim Aarons world. The house sits low against the desert mountains while three women gather around the pool in a moment of conversation.
The scene is simple, which is why it lasts. There is no dramatic gesture, no visible event, and no need for one. Architecture, sun, water, mountains, clothing, posture, and social ease do the work.
Aarons once described his work as:
Attractive people who were doing attractive things in attractive places.
Poolside Gossip gives that sentence its most famous form. The people appear perfectly at home in the setting, and the setting appears built for exactly this kind of afternoon. It is modernism not as theory, but as a way of living in light.
