Published in Playboy in June 1999, Heather Kozar marks Kozar's year as Playmate of the Year, photographed by Arny Freytag in a deliberate echo of Marilyn Monroe: blonde hair, cream satin, raised arm, parted lips, and the soft glamour language of classic Hollywood.
The resemblance was part of the image's power. Freytag, one of Playboy's most exacting photographers, turned that Monroe-like presence into a warm cream-and-gold study of pose, softness, and controlled allure. The result is not imitation, but lineage: a late-1990s Playmate of the Year cast in the visual memory of the magazine's original icon.
Kozar's own words give the image its simplest frame:
Nudity is art.
In Heather Kozar, she reclines across satin and tufted upholstery, one arm lifted above her face as the composition turns her body into a diagonal sweep of light, fabric, and skin. The image is open, polished, and unmistakably referential, joining Playmate glamour to the enduring mythology of Marilyn.
Photographed by Freytag, modeled by Kozar, and preserved within the Playboy Legacy Collection, the work is part of the forty-eight-print archival edition released for Playboy's 50th anniversary.

The Playboy Legacy Collection was released in 2007 for the magazine's 50th anniversary as a forty-eight-print archival edition curated under the direction of Hugh Hefner. Each print is embossed with the archive seal bearing the Playboy Bunny mark and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
