Unframed works typically ship within 1–2 business days in archival-safe packaging. Framed works are hand-assembled to order and require up to two weeks before dispatch. Tracking is provided once the order has been released for shipment.
Returns and cancellations are accepted within 24 hours of purchase. If your work arrives damaged, contact us and we will repair, replace where possible, or resolve the issue at no cost.
The Player
An unpublished image from Becky DeLossantos's April 1994 Playmate session, The Player turns the body into pure composition: sun, sand, tanned skin, suede fringe, and a crop so tight that the face disappears entirely.
Photographed by Arny Freytag, one of Playboy's most prolific and exacting contributors, the image comes from a location shoot in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Freytag brought a fine-art eye to the magazine's glamour language, treating the body not only as subject, but as line, shape, rhythm, and design.
Freytag described the logic of this kind of image plainly:
I don't think you always need to see a face. It is sometimes more sexy. It becomes more intimate for the viewer if they can't.
In The Player, the frame closes in on sand-dusted skin and a fringed suede garment, with the model's hands resting near the waist and the surrounding body cropped into a study of warmth and texture. The image is direct but carefully composed, intimate without becoming portraiture, its anonymity part of its charge.
Photographed by Freytag, modeled by DeLossantos, and preserved within the Playboy Legacy Collection, the work is part of the forty-eight-print archival edition released for Playboy's 50th anniversary.
Collection Note
The Playboy Legacy Collection was released in 2007 for the magazine's 50th anniversary as a forty-eight-print archival edition curated under the direction of Hugh Hefner. Each print is embossed with the archive seal bearing the Playboy Bunny mark and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
