Published in Playboy in November 1973, She Is Ursula Andress II comes from the magazine's landmark twelve-page pictorial with the Swiss actress who became cinema's first Bond girl, the longest nude pictorial Playboy had published to that point.
If the world first knew Andress as the woman rising from the sea in Dr. No, this later image places her at a different distance: not as a film still or publicity icon, but as part of an extended, unhurried study shaped by John Derek's camera. The intimacy is the authorship.
In She Is Ursula Andress II, she reclines against pale pillows in the glow of an open fire, one arm raised above her head and her face turned back in profile, eyes closed. The flames burn directly behind her and an ornate gold screen frames the edge of the room, the whole image rendered in warm amber and deep shadow.
It is the most private register of the series, less a pose than a moment of repose caught by firelight.
Photographed by Derek, modeled by Andress, and preserved within the Playboy Legacy Collection, the work is part of the forty-eight-print archival edition released for Playboy's 50th anniversary.
