Bunny's Honey
Taken in 1954 and published in Playboy in May 1994, Bunny's Honey is one of the collection's clearest pieces of pinup history: Bettie Page photographed by Bunny Yeager, the pioneering photographer who made many of Page's most iconic images. Two legends meet in a single frame, at the height of the era that defined American pinup.
The image belongs to Yeager's famous Jungle Bettie series, photographed at Africa USA, a wildlife sanctuary in Boca Raton. Page posed with two live cheetahs, Mojah and Mbili, whose names mean one and two in Swahili and whose own screen history included appearances as the Roman emperor Nero's pets in the 1951 film Quo Vadis. Yeager herself was a rare figure behind the camera: a successful fashion model before becoming a photographer, and one of only a handful of women whose work is represented in this collection.
Yeager remembered the morning with characteristic understatement:
We didn't know what we were getting into, but they were very nice to us.
In Bunny's Honey, Page reclines nude in the grass beside the two cheetahs, propped on one arm with her dark hair, blunt fringe, red lips, hoop earrings, and gold bracelet catching the light. The cats rest calmly against her, their spotted coats filling the frame and turning the scene into something both staged and astonishingly alive. The image is not just glamour; it is a record of one of pinup photography's most enduring collaborations.
Photographed by Yeager, modeled by Page, and preserved within the Playboy Legacy Collection, the work is part of the forty-eight-print archival edition released for Playboy's 50th anniversary.

The Playboy Legacy Collection was released in 2007 for the magazine's 50th anniversary as a forty-eight-print archival edition curated under the direction of Hugh Hefner. Each print is embossed with the archive seal bearing the Playboy Bunny mark and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
