Niki Lauda (Pirelli Calendar)
Made in Monaco in 1985 for the Pirelli Calendar, Newton's portrait of Niki Lauda brings Formula 1 into his world of performance, danger, and controlled public image.
Lauda was not a fashion subject, but Newton understood him as a figure built from speed, discipline, and risk. The setting carries the atmosphere of a behind-the-scenes motorsport session rather than a formal studio portrait, placing the driver inside a world where machinery and persona are inseparable.
Formula 1 champion Niki Lauda, photographed for the 1985 Pirelli Calendar in Monaco.
In Newton's hands, the racing figure becomes more than sporting celebrity. Lauda reads as a constructed presence: precise, watchful, and marked by the mythology of survival and control.
