Natassja Kinski

Photographed in Los Angeles in 1983 during the promotional period around James Toback's Exposed, Newton's portrait of Natassja Kinski carries the charged stillness of cinema into the studio frame.

Kinski was already a figure of European and Hollywood fascination, and Newton lets that ambiguity remain intact. The portrait is not softened into celebrity glamour. It holds her at a distance, using pose, light, and expression to keep the image poised between vulnerability and refusal.

Photographed in Los Angeles in 1983, during the release of James Toback's Exposed.

It is a film-star portrait in Newton's register: beauty sharpened by unease, public image made private without becoming familiar.
