High Dive
Made in Monaco in 1983 for French Vogue, High Dive uses the diving platforms as an architectural stage for one of Newton's cleverest optical setups.
The models are clothed and stationary, posed to mimic the motion of a dive. Newton turns stillness into action through angle, placement, and illusion. What looks at first like a moment of athletic movement is in fact a carefully engineered fashion scene, built from posture and perspective.
Pure illusion: stillness staged until it reads as flight.
The result is playful but exacting: fashion image, optical trick, and Monaco spectacle held in the same clean vertical frame.
Collection Note
