Fashion Mugler
Made for French Vogue in Paris in 1996, Fashion Mugler brings Newton's eye to Thierry Mugler's theatrical fashion language.
The image works through Mugler's signature vocabulary: sculptural hats, stockings, and a sharp sense of silhouette. Newton understood designers who treated fashion as theatre, and Mugler's world gave him exactly that: severity, surface, erotic charge, and body-conscious design pushed toward spectacle.
Thierry Mugler built fashion like architecture: severe, sculptural, made to dominate the frame.
Rather than soften the styling, Newton lets it stay hard. The photograph becomes a meeting of two sensibilities: Mugler's architectural fashion and Newton's controlled appetite for tension.
