Dressed to the 9 & 3/4, Part II

Part II of Dressed to the 9 & 3/4 moves the camera overhead. Coco Nady lies on the same white bed, legs lifted in white over-the-knee socks, and holds an open book up over her face, her eyes just clearing its top edge to meet the lens.

Where Part I keeps her face turned away, Part II meets the viewer's eye. Aleksandr Kosmos turns the frame so she reads upside down, her ponytail spilling toward the bottom edge, and the book does the work the title promises: the novel in her hands is where the nine and three quarters comes from.

Fiction held up as a veil, and the eyes above it entirely real.

Everything in the frame is white or close to it, sheets, sweater, and socks, apart from the colored cover of the book and the wicker daybed and stone floor glimpsed through the glass behind her.

Collection Note

An open-edition print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Bright White 310gsm, signed by Coco Nady and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
