Above Sunset

Above Sunset was photographed on a terrace in the Hollywood Hills, the ridge that rises directly above Sunset Boulevard. Coco Nady stands at the rail with Los Angeles spread out below her, from the green of the canyon to the towers of downtown, under a clear sky.

Pav Krum keeps her back to the camera and lets the city fill the rest of the frame. Nothing is softened. The light is the hard, direct light of a clear Los Angeles day, and the picture is better for it: warm skin against cool blue, close detail against a skyline lost in haze.

Los Angeles, seen from the hills, the way it has always preferred to be seen.

She leans on a steel cable railing strung with glass bulbs, hair pulled back, wearing a fine chain at her neck and a black lace thong. Below the terrace a pool catches the sky, and beyond it the basin opens out toward downtown.

Collection Note

An open-edition print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Metallic 340gsm, signed by Coco Nady and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
